MKM opens 80th branch

Builder’s merchant chain MKM Building Supplies is opening its 80th branch, in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

The 1.2acre site, at Lupton Road, Wallingford will be a one-stop shop for both local building trade and retail customers. Stock will include plumbing and heating, electrical, drainage, roofing, timber, doors, ironmongery and joinery. The branch will also offer a building takeoff service, brick matching and free local delivery, as well as a kitchen and bathroom showroom and landscaping display.

MKM Wallingford is headed-up by two branch directors, Stephen Busby and Liam Baldwin.

Busby, who brings 43 years expertise to the role said: “It’s our ambition to make MKM Wallingford the best one stop merchant in Oxfordshire and the point of reference for service levels locally. We are committed to creating a fantastic work environment for our new team, to ensure we retain the very best skills and people.”

Baldwin added, “This is a really exciting opportunity. DIY and home improvement is hugely in vogue and the local construction industry in Oxfordshire remains as robust as ever – with a combination of new build estates, repairs, maintenance and extensions. In business, the opportunities are always there if you listen to the market and adapt accordingly.”

David Kilburn, founder of MKM Building Supplies Limited said: “Our new branch in Wallingford offers great potential for MKM. Feedback from local business has been that the building industry in the area is buoyant with much new investment. Our new team is very experienced, knows the local market inside out and has an in-depth understanding of what trade customers need – so we are really looking forward to the exciting opportunity this branch presents. I would like to thank the whole team in MKM Wallingford for their hard work and boundless enthusiasm in opening the branch. It is a fantastic achievement for the brand.”
