British Precast appoints Christopher Stanley

British Precast, the trade association for the UK precast concrete industry, has appointed Christopher Stanley as its new Housing Manager.

In this role he will lead Modern Masonry, a group of sub-associations which represents the UK’s brick, block and mortar manufacturers.

Stanley succeeds Andrew Minson, who recently stepped down as British Precast’s Executive Director to take up a new position at the Global Cement and Concrete Association.

His role at British Precast will be to represent the association at committee level and to external stakeholders, including housing developers, housing associations, architects and engineers. Working closely with experts in marketing, health and safety, sustainability, engineering, architecture and technical, he will be developing policy and thought leadership in the housing sector.

Stanley will also be responsible for coordinating the delivery of output for all members’ businesses and ensure support for members and the accuracy of external communications. Chris’s role will cover a wide range of products into the housing sector with a focus on masonry.

He has a solid background in the construction, production, mining and facilities management industries. His comprehensive experience includes project management, project engineering, surveying, contract management as well as tendering and procurement. Stanley understands the needs and requirements of self-builders having worked as a self-employed property developer, building his own home as well as a project manager at T.A.D. Contracts and as project engineer at Advanced Construction Systems Ltd. Chris graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2009 reading Civil Engineering and becoming a Graduate Member of the ICE.

Commenting on the appointment, Claire Ackerman, Director at the Concrete Centre, states: “With such a robust, wide-ranging background, Chris is the ideal candidate to take the reins and head Modern Masonry. As a great communicator and as someone with a real passion for delivering high standards in housing, I am excited to see where he takes the association.”

Stanley says: “The housing sector is faced with a challenging year, yet it’s also an exciting time to be joining a forward-looking organisation such as British Precast. One of my key aims taking on this role is to ensure we have a balanced, researched conversation about the toolkits, materials and methods available to housebuilders. In the UK, housebuilding is a topical subject and we need to guarantee the industry meets targets, builds for a sustainable future and ensures inclusivity.”
