The Grant Aerona³ air source heat pump range is expanding with the launch of a new 12kW model which incorporates R32 refrigerant, making it Grant’s greenest heat pump yet.
The Aerona³ 12kW R32 inverter driven air source heat pump is the latest model to join Grant UK’s renewable product range. As its name suggests, this heat pump uses the more environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant which makes for a cleaner heat pump while still delivering excellent performance. Achieving an ErP rating of A++, the Grant Aerona³ R32 is the first monoblock R32 air source heat pump to be launched in the UK.
The introduction of this new heat pump is in response to the growing demand for products which have a lower impact on the environment. The 2014 EU Fluorinated Greenhouse Gas (F-Gas) Regulations is legislation designed to phase out the use of hydrofluorocarbons, with the introduction of a series of targets which are designed to limit the use of gases which have the highest Global Warming Potential (GWP). Grant’s latest ASHP uses R32 refrigerant which has a GWP which is considerably lower than other typical heat pump refrigerants such as R410, thus complying with the upcoming legislative targets.
In addition to having a lower GWP figure of 675, R32 is a single-component refrigerant which means it has no temperature glide. Refrigerant blends that have two or more components exhibit temperature glide but as R32 only has one molecule in its formation, its saturated liquid and vapor temperatures are the same. By removing the risk for the refrigerant to suffer from glide, the system can recharge and recycle with greater ease, making it more efficient.
The Aerona³ R32 heat pump is not just a greener heat pump. It also has the familiar features that engineers have come to associate with the Grant Aerona brand. The new model is a single phase, DC inverter driven ASHP incorporating in-built weather compensation and a base tray heating element to prevent ice formation, features that it shares with the existing models in the Aerona³ range. Monoblock in design, the Aerona³ R32 is suitable for use with S-Plan heating control systems and is simple to work with for installation and maintenance.
The Aerona³ 12kW R32 model has a compact footprint and operates with low noise levels. It therefore has minimal impact on its surrounds both aesthetically and acoustically, something which is of great benefit to end-users. The heat pump is also available with a guarantee of up to 7 years (subject to full T&Cs and status) which reflects Grant’s confidence in their latest product.
Currently available as 12kW output, additional outputs in the Aerona³ R32 range will be launched at a later date, further increasing the variety of choice Grant’s product offering delivers to customers. Being the first of its kind in the UK, the Aerona³ R32 heat pump once again demonstrates Grant’s position at the forefront of bringing green thinking heating technologies to the market.
